You can manually set the map's dimensions or scale using the mapboard options. Learn how to define each separately or together for the mapboards you create.
Conseil :
If you have multiple mapboards, you can select and zoom to a specific mapboard by using the navigation menu in the toolbar at the top of the Mapboards window.
Set the dimensions
For the mapboard to use specific dimensions (such as 2.5 by 5 inches), complete the following steps:
- In the Mapboards window, select the mapboard and click the Modify map and output properties button .
- In the Mapboard Options window, on the General tab, choose to set the artboard size, and type 2.5 in for width and 5.0 in for height.
The scale is calculated automatically.
- Click OK.
The shape of the extent adjusts to reflect the dimensions you entered.
- Drag the mapboard name tab to reposition the map, if necessary.
Set the map scale
For the mapboard to use a specific map scale (such as 1:24,000), complete the following steps:
- In the Mapboards window, select the mapboard and click the Modify map and output properties button .
- In the Mapboard Options window, on the General tab, choose to set the level of detail and type 24000 for the map scale.
The width and height dimensions are calculated automatically.
- Click OK.
The map zooms to the scale you set.
- Drag the mapboard name tab to reposition the map, if necessary.

For the mapboard to use a specific map scale and dimensions (such as 1:24,000 and 2.5 by 2.5 inches), complete the following steps:
- In the Mapboards window, select the mapboard and click the Modify map and output properties button .
- In the Mapboard Options window, on the General tab, choose to set the level of detail and type 24000 for the map scale.
- Click OK.
The map zooms to the scale you set.
- On the toolbar at the top of the Mapboards window, type 2.5 in for width and height to adjust the dimensions.
The map zooms again and the extent adjusts automatically.
- Drag the mapboard name tab to reposition the map, if necessary.
